AnchorBar.com

The historic Anchor Bar in downtown Buffalo was the scene of a fatal shooting on Friday night.

Police report that a kitchen worker was targeted by an assailant who entered the restaurant around 7 p.m. The victim was killed and another worker was injured. No patrons were hurt and the venue was closed for the rest of the night following the incident. Witnesses state that a masked man chased another worker away from the bar.

On Saturday afternoon a representative from Anchor Bar released the following statement:

"First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the Anchor Bar employees, one who was fatally wounded and the other who was wounded yesterday evening. We would like to thank the BPD and emergency medical personnel for their quick response. We will continue to do everything we can to help with this investigation. We will not allow this act of senseless violence to keep us from serving the good people of this city, and will resume operations tomorrow at 12pm. We thank the Buffalo community for your unwavering support.

We defer all questions about this incident to the Buffalo Police Department as they continue their investigation."

Anyone with any information about the shooting is asked to call the Confidential Tip Line at (716) 847-2255.
