If you're a fan of old mob films, you may remember the big heist from the hit film 'Goodfellas'. Vincent Asaro, will go on trial for taking part in a robbery that happened over 30 years ago.
The now 80-year-old mobster is being charged in a case about the $6 million Lufthansa robbery that occurred at Kennedy Airport in 1978. Asaro's name hadn't been mentioned as an accomplice in the robbery until his arrest last year. Prosecutors plan to use testimonies from mob turncoats and wiretap recordings to prove Asaro received $750,000 from the heist.
Opening statements in the case against Vincent Asaro begin Monday in a Brooklyn federal court.
