Just as one of the two killers who escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York is laid to rest, the other leaves questions unanswered for law enforcers.

Funeral Director Winthrop Allen of the John O. Roth Funeral Home in Tonawanda, New York says the final disposition of Richard Matt’s body has taken place. According to Allen, no services are planned for Matt, who was shot to death after three weeks on the run. Allen would not say if Matt was buried or cremated, and gave no further details.

As for Matt's accomplice, David Sweat, State Police are seeking the help of the public in finding the owner of a backpack he was carrying at the time of his capture near the Canadian border on June 28. Sweat had a red and black TYR brand backpack, which officials say was filled with maps, tools, Pop Tarts, and other items.
