Amherst Police are investigating two overnight break-ins on Bernhardt Drive in Snyder. The incidents occurred while the residents were home and asleep. Detective Lt. Rick Walter says in both cases, the burglar gained entry by pushing open unlocked windows.
"It's a very brazen crime to enter somebody's home when they're sleeping," Walter told WBFO.
Walter says residents reported the crimes this morning. He says common items, including purses and cell phones, were stolen.
"We don't people to panic. We just want them to be aware that this situation is going on and to be cognizant of what windows they're leaving open. I would suggest closing your first-floor windows, just to be safe," Walter said.
Anyone with information is asked to call 689-1343. Police are asking residents in the area to be alert and call 911 if they see any suspicious activity.
