Authorities find pot growing operation in home day care

A Buffalo woman has been arrested after sheriff's deputies say she was found to be growing marijuana in a residence that was being used as a day care center.  Robin Fortner, 42, faces felony drug charges after narcotics detectives raided a house on Parkside Avenue Sunday morning. Officers discovered nearly 300 marijuana plants and what they say was an elaborate growing room in the attics.

Fortner admitted she was running an unlicensed day care in the house. She is being held at the Erie County Holding Center and will be arraigned Monday in Buffalo City Court.  She faces charges of Felony Criminal Possession of Marijuana, Acting in a Manner to Injure a Child Less than 17, and Unlawfully growing marijuana.

Fortner's three children, who were in the house at the time of the search, are in the care of a relative.
