Man and woman killed in East side shooting

Two people are dead following an overnight shooting on Buffalo's East side. The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Sycamore Street and Jefferson Avenue.  The deceased are Shamel Parker, 37, and Tyneisha Pettiford, 29, both of Buffalo. The two victims were struck by gunfire while sitting in Pettiford's vehicle. The Buffalo News is reporting Pettiford was pregnant.

Chief of Detectives Dennis Richards says several shots were fired into a gray Infiniti, killing both the female driver and her male passenger. Officers responding to the scene found that the victims' vehicle has then struck an SUV in a nearby driveway after the shots were fired.

Homicide detectives are investigating. Police are asking anyone with information to call or text the city's confidential tipline at 847-2255.
