Buffalo Police investigate 1st homicide on New Year

Just hours after the New Year began a Buffalo woman was shot to death.
Homicide Detectives say a 25-year-old female victim was riding in a Chrysler Pacifica headed northbound on Michigan Avenue, towards Genesee Street just after 3:00 a.m. Wednesday when she was struck by gunfire.

Police are looking for a suspect.  It is the city's first homicide of the new year.

Detectives believe multiple shots were fired from another vehicle, an SUV, while the victim's vehicle was stopped at a red light.

The woman was transported to Buffalo General where she later died.
Police are looking at the possibility that the individual's in both vehicles are known to each other.

The suspects vehicle is described as a sport utility vehicle, white in color, possibly a Cadillac.
