The trial of the Virginia man accused of murdering Clymer schools superintendent Keith Reed Jr. is underway in Chautauqua County. Anthony Taglianetti, of Woodbridge, Virginia has pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder. Prosecutors say Taglianetti drove 350 miles on September 21 of last year to kill Reed at his Clymer home because he believed Reed was having an affair with his wife.
The jury heard opening statements Tuesday morning. Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley told jurors Taglianetti was enraged by an explicit email he discovered between Reed and his wife, Mary.
The Virginia man's defense attorney called Mary Taglianetti a "liar" and a "master manipulator" and said the defendant did not murder Reed. She is expected to take the stand at some point in the trial.
Three witnesses offered testimony today, including Reed's 21-year-old daughter Allison.
