Child safe, father dead in Lockport home

A man is dead, but his 3-year-old child is safe after a tense situation in Lockport Wednesday morning.  The situation began around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday when a bleeding woman was spotted running out of a home on the 5700 block of Campbell Boulevard.  The woman, since identified as 40-year-old LeAnne Tucker, had gunshot wounds to the face.  She was taken to ECMC, where she is expected to survive.

Authorities arrived at the scene and quickly labeled the woman's husband a suspect.  The man, now identified as 44-year-old Morris Tucker, was believed to be holed up in the home with the couple's 3-year-old daughter.  Niagara County Sheriff James Voutour told reporters at the scene the man was known to law enforcement.

Around 12:30 this afternoon, a robotic camera was sent into the home, where it was learned Tucker was dead, apparently from a self-inflicted wound.  The child, who was alone in the house for several hours, was not physically harmed.

Investigation continues.
