Nearly 11 acres of land on the site of the former Bethlehem Steel plant in Lackawanna has been sold to Uniland Development Company.
Known as Renaissance Commerce Park, the land will be the future home of a second 170,000-square-foot manufacturing warehouse distribution building by Uniland, next to one currently under construction at the corner of Route 5 and Dona Street.
“We have seen strong demand for our first manufacturing/warehouse building at 8 Dona Street, which is scheduled to open in Summer 2022, and this has given us further confidence that RCP will continue to be a destination for future industrial users in our region,” said Uniland CEO Michael Montante.
The Erie County Industrial Development Corporation said Uniland paid $200,000 for the parcel and expects to invest more than $20 million on its new development.
The economic expansion comes after local manufacturer TMP Technologies purchased 28 acres in 2020, and completed construction in 2021 on its new 280,000-square foot manufacturing facility on the Dona Street Extension just west of the Uniland parcels.
