State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli released a report Monday that shows that local sales tax collections in New York during November were up 17.5% from November 2020.
Total collections for last month were almost $1.6 billion, an increase of $235 million over the previous year. It was also an increase of 9.2%, or $133 million, when compared to the pre-pandemic month of November 2019.
In a press release, DiNapoli said November collections may have benefited from early holiday shopping, although the bulk of receipts from holiday spending will likely be reflected in the December numbers.
