The University at Buffalo’s new entrepreneur incubator space is now officially open. It’s located at the university’s Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Science on the Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus, and looks to foster start-up companies in those fields.

Funded in part by Empire State Development, UB President Satish Tripathi said the space puts the school’s mission full circle.

“From health sciences, to technology, to supporting small businesses, this is exactly where the new technology is going, and this is where the university is making its biggest impact. Most of their technology has come from UB, and it employs UB students as the major people working in these small companies.”

The co-working environment is set up to encourage collaboration between the start up companies, and the program also allows entrepreneurs to have access to a fully stocked bio medical lab on-site.

The UB Incubator will also give new entrepreneurs access to the school’s student,

alumni, and faculty network through a mix of programs. The school is also providing a team of mentors to each member of the incubator that will offer help as they navigate their way as a business startup.

In all, the space gives emerging companies options to fit their needs in the 42,000 square foot space, offering amenities ranging from just a single desk on the open floor, to a private office, to even a furnished office for up to 4 people.
