Fredonia inches closer to $500K small business makeover

Fredonia Chamber of commerce

A "Small Business Revolution" may be coming to Fredonia. The national television series, hosted by Ty Pennington and Amanda Brinkman on Hulu and Amazon Prime, is searching the country to give one lucky municipality a $500,000 makeover - "one small business at a time."

Tuesday morning, Fredonia moved from the Top 10 to the Top 5 municipalities in the running to be revitalized. The announcement was livestreamed at the Fredonia Opera House.

Fredonia officials say they want to leverage its "rich history with beautiful architecture" along Lake Erie to "capitalize on tourism and drive more foot traffic to its small businesses." It is also hoping the TV series will "improve its online presence and help reignite its downtown."

Online voting will now determine the finalist. Voting closes in a week. The winner will be announced on Jan. 23. Other muncipalities in the Top 5 are Benicia, CA; Livingston, MT; Spearfish, SD; and Dalles, OR.
