Phillips Lytle LLP celebrated 185 years in business Tuesday with a proclamation by Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and a donation of 185 bags of goods to FeedMore Western New York, 185 cans of food to Foodlink and 185 items to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
“Phillips Lytle is proud to celebrate the firm’s 185th anniversary,” said Phillips Lytle Managing Partner Kevin Hogan. “In addition to our long history of providing client service excellence, we pride ourselves on our commitment to the communities in which we work and live. Naturally, we wanted to celebrate our 185th anniversary with contributions to organizations making a difference in communities across our footprint.”
Hogan said the law firm supports hundreds of community and national organizations through volunteer service, board work and financial support.
Phillips Lytle began in 1834 when Orsamus H. Marshall opened a one-man law office in Buffalo. Forty years later, Grover Cleveland joined the firm and eventually served as the governor of New York, then President of the United States. Today, the firm has more than 400 employees located in nine offices, including at its corporate headquarters at One Canalside.
“Phillips Lytle has maintained its headquarters in the City of Buffalo for the past 185 years,” said Brown. As I did 10 years ago on the firm’s 175th anniversary, I am proud to honor the firm and declare today 'Phillips Lytle Day' in the City of Buffalo.”
