The City of Buffalo has completed the sale of a key piece of downtown land that will be used for a major mixed-use development. The 201 Ellicott project will include a grocery store and residential units. It is being developed by Ciminelli Real Estate, which purchased the parcel for $2,325,000.
The site will also be home to a regional mobility hub, with a focus on walking, biking, ride-hailing and using public transportation, geared toward what Ciminelli calls the city's urban core.
"The development team and our partners at the City of Buffalo are extremely excited to see this dynamic project continue to advance toward realization," said project spokesman Matt Davison, in a statement.
The project, on Ellicott Street near the Central Library, has received site plan and variance approvals from the city. Davison says the sale paves the way for site preparation, with full construction to begin later this year.
