Boulevard Mall sold at auction for $24 million

A local developer has won the bidding war for the faltering Boulevard Mall.

The online auction ran nearly two hours past Wednesday's original 1:12 p.m. deadline as would-be buyers kept pushing the price higher. In the end, Sinatra & Company Realty, of Buffalo, submitted the winning bid at $24,050,000.

Sinatra's Director of Development, Amy Nagy says it's exciting to win but now the real work begins. Nagy says it's too early to discuss specifics.

"Certainly it will ultimately probably be a mixed-use type of project. You're going to see a lot of components as seems to be the trend with these types of mall redevelopments. But as far as exactly what those are going to look like - it's much too early to say. There's a lot of great tenants still operating on site. There will be a lot of stakeholders to have conversations with," Nagy said.

Nagy says Sinatra and Company is looking forward to working with the Town of Amherst and the Boulevard Mall's neighbors on revitalizing the property. She says more information will be released about the project as it becomes available.
