Charlotte Russe stores closing, liquidation begins

Charlotte Russe

Charlotte Russe is going out of business and liquidation sales have begun.

The women's fashion retailer that bills itself as "trendy, not spendy" is already in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It filed for protection last month, intending to close only some of its stores.

However, according to its website, the clothing chain founded in Calaifornia in 1975 is beginning liquidation sales Thursday. Its website has stopped selling.

Charlotte Russe has three stores in Western New York: at the Boulevard Mall, the Fashion Outlets and Walden Galleria.

According to the company Facebook page, the retailer has more than 500 stores nationwide and employs nearly 900 employees.
