Wegmans ranks #3 in latest 'Best Companies to Work For'

WRVO News

Wegmans again has achieved a top ranking in the annual Fortune Magazine "100 Best Companies to Work For" list.

The company ranked #3 this year. Last year it was #2.

The list is based on survey feedback from employees. Wegmans has been among the top 10 companies on the list for 16 of the 22 years it’s been around and is one of eight companies on the list every year since it first began.

Customers and employees will celebrate the honor Saturday at 11 a.m., when cake will be served at every Wegmans store. For customers who prefer a healthy option, Clementine tangerines will be available.

This year, the #1-ranked company was Hilton, and 2 was the software company, Salesforce.

In related news, Wegmans issued a statement Friday that it is helping out federal workers affected by the government shutdown.

“One of our local United Way partners let us know there are people still dealing with the consequences of the recent government shutdown," said Chairman Danny Wegman. "They asked if we could help."

In particular, Wegman says February SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits were paid in advance, creating a challenge for some recipients.

“The most direct way for us to help is by lowering prices for all customers beginning Saturday, Feb. 16 through Saturday, March 2 on the items that will make nutritious meals at a truly affordable cost,” he announced.
