The Path to Pot: An economist looks at legalized marijuana

Many leaders have been focused upon the potential financial gains of legalizing recreational marijuana in New York State. Some of those benefits include job creation and a boost to tax revenues, says Bill Ganley, Buffalo State Economics Professor.  Ganley also believes the regulation of marijuana will produce a "standardization of the product" which would likely "clean up the existing black market" where marijuana is currently bought and sold in New York.

A graduate of St. Mary's of the Lake School, St. Francis High School and Buffalo State College, Jay has worked most of his professional career in Buffalo. Outside of public media, he continues in longstanding roles as the public address announcer for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League and as play-by-play voice of Canisius College basketball.
