It is quietly being revealed that Sears will be closing its Eastern Hills Mall store after Christmas.
Mall manager Russell Fulton has confirmed the story. "Help wanted" notices on the store's website indicate the store will be closing, although no exact date has been specified.
The store and its 20-acre property at Eastern Hills were sold last week to Mountain Development Corporation and Uniland Development, who are jointly planning a redevelopment of the mall into a mixed-use center.
The closure of the Sears Eastern Hills Mall location will leave Sears with only two Western New York locations, at McKinley Mall and Chautauqua Mall.
