Tops to close 10 stores, none in WNY
Tops Markets will close ten underperforming stores as part of its financial restructuring. None are in Western New York.
The affected stores are primarily in the Rochester and Syracuse areas. Tops officials say they will assist the fewer than 600 employees of the stores that are closing with placements at other stores if possible.
The ten stores will close by the end of November.
Tops Chief Executive Officer Frank Curci says the grocery chain is making "significant progress" in its financial restructuring and that the vast majority of its stores are profitable.
