Temporary liquor license approved for Market Arcade AMC 8

Just two weeks after downtown Buffalo's Market Arcade reopened to moviegoers, the state has approved a temporary liquor license for the newly renovated AMC theater house.

Amherst-based Benchmark Group and AMC Entertainment Holdings partnered to invest a combined $9 million to reopen the shuttered cinema at 639 Main Street. It is now an eight-screen, 650-seat cinema that includes heated, reclining seats and cutting-edge visual and audio technology.

In addition, the New York State Liquor Authority has now given the okay to having a beer with your bag of popcorn, as you recline in comfort about to watch the latest Hollywood release. AMC Spokesman Ryan Noonan says the theaters expect to begin "adult beverage service" in late September or early October and will be sharing more details at that time.
