A company founded three years ago as a startup is announcing a new phase of its operation, and settling into a bigger space on Delaware Avenue.
Circuit Clinical seeks to ease the clinical trial process for pharmaceutical companies by networking doctors and patients and create a more comfortable environment for the patients and the process.
"It's very hard to get people to join clinical studies because they're concerned that it's going to be dangerous," said Dr. Irfan Khan, founder and chief strategy officer for Circuit Clinical. "That's really an exaggerated risk. We think the most important thing for patients is to get access to that conversation in their doctor's office. It's somebody they trust, somebody they can ask all the questions without feeling intimidated by the process."
A ceremony was held outside the building at 599 Delaware Avenue, where Circuit Clinical relocated this past May. Empire State Development regional president Sam Hoyt and the company's newest hire, Katie Ketterer, helped pull down the veil to reveal new signage facing the street.
"Of course we loved our time in the University at Buffalo Gateway Building but it became obvious we needed our own space, a place could expand and grow and further establish ourselves in the Buffalo community," Khan said. "I'm personally happy to stay in Buffalo for the long term with this company. It's a great place to raise a family, have a business, and we look forward to everything Circuit's going do here with Buffalo in the years to come."
The company currently employs 23 people. It was mentioned during the ceremony that Denver was under consideration as a future home.
"Denver, Schmenver," joked Hoyt.
