Some New York State fast-food employees may receive increased wages sooner than they think.
The Associated Press reports a state wage board filed a formal proposal with the State Department of Labor on Friday. The increase would give fast food workers a $15 minimum wage. Speculation of approval by Governor Andrew Cuomo's administration is anticipated by the middle of September. This wage increase would effect an estimated 200,000 New York State fast-food employees in restaurants with 30 or more locations.
The increase would gradually be phased in to New York City and then to other areas over six years time.
