Buffalo Manufacturing Works opens for business

Chris Caya WBFO News

New York state's effort to boost the economy by making the region a leader in advanced manufacturing continues moving forward.Buffalo Manufacturing Works officially opened for business Wednesday. The $45 million facility on Main Street in downtown Buffalo is billed as a resource center where local companies can learn about how to utilize advanced manufacturing in their operation. It's being funded by the state's Buffalo Billion economic development program.

Buffalo Manufacturing Works President Michael Ulbrich says the goal is to help local manufacturers innovate and continue to grow.

"Innovation is clearly something that drives the future success of a company and their competitiveness. So by helping these companies become more competitive we think that we can help them thrive in the long run," said Ulbrich.

In return, the state is looking to create jobs.

Buffalo Manufacturing Works is operated by EWI a non-profit engineering and technology organization. Its partners include the University at Buffalo, Insyte Consulting, and the World Trade Center.
