Coming to Buffalo an 'easy decision' for finance company

Chris Caya/WBFO News

More new jobs are coming to downtown Buffalo. Blue Bridge Financial has officially opened its new national headquarters in the Electric Tower on Washington Street. Blue Bridge has several other offices across the country. Lt.Gov. Robert Duffy and other elected officials welcomed the company to the city in a ceremony Thursday morning.

Blue Bridge Financial CEO Mark DeBacker says support from the state, county and city made the decision easy.

"The quality of the workforce that exists here in Buffalo is incomparable when you look at the other markets that we're operating out of. It, ultimately, became a very easy decision," DeBacker said.

With the redevelopment of the downtown core business district here, the excitement and the momentum that's being built here, it's a perfect for for us."

DeBacker says the company is retaining 12 local jobs and plans to create more than 70 new positions over the next five years.

If the goal is met, Blue Bridge will receive nearly $590,000 in performance-based state tax credits.
