Local cab company promotes safe New Year's ride home

WBFO News photos by Eileen Buckley

In this digital age, we often use the expression 'There's an app for that." As WBFO's Eileen Buckley, reports Liberty Yellow Cab in Buffalo has a smartphone app to inform customers their ride is on its way.

"It tells you where the car is and how it is going to come to you. It's your guaranteed ride home," said Bill Yunke, president of Liberty Yellow Cab in Buffalo.

The new app is called Taxi magic. You can download it for free.

Yunke is promoting the app for Tuesday's New Year's Eve Ball drop celebration in downtown Buffalo. He is encouraging citizens to take public transportation or call a cab to avoid parking troubles and drinking and driving.

"We know the buses are running. It's going to get you right down here and it's going to get you back home. But if you've had a little too much to drink -- just remember call your favorite cab company," said Yunke.

Yunke noted that the tax cab business is "extremely" busy all across the country on New Year's Eve.
