Trader Joe's to open store in Buffalo area

One of the nation's most famous grocery chains is coming to the Buffalo area.

The Kenmore Village Improvement Society said Trader Joe's will open a store in a major retail corridor by the end of 2013.

The group has been lobbying for a Trader Joe's for several years.  Society President Melissa Foster confirms the news.  Foster said it's a big win for the community to finally land the chain.

"We're ending our campaign, our Trader Joes's for Western New York," said Foster.  "We do know they are coming to Western New York.  We also know they are not coming to Kenmore, which is okay," said Foster. "We do know where it's at, but we are not allow to say where it is at."

Foster said she has been told of the specific location but that she was asked not to reveal that.

"They have a wonderful, quality products including organic, products, and they have a marvelous  and they are not a big box store," said Foster.

Right now, the nearest Trader Joe's is three hours away in Cleveland.  But the chain is opening a store in the Rochester area on October 5th.  Trader Joe's specializes in gourmet and organic foods, with many items sold under its own brand name.
