Lewiston Customs agents confiscate 1 1/2 tons of marijuana

CBP Great Lakes
Officers discovered 3,458 lbs. of marijuana secreted in shipping boxes manifested as Zinc Oxide.

There has been yet another seizure of a large quantity of marijuana at the U.S.-Canada border.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers inspecting a shipment listed as zinc oxide on Sunday at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge say they discovered a ton and a half of marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags in shipping boxes in a tractor-trailer.

The estimated street value of the seizure is $5.3 million.

Other recent seizures in the Buffalo-Niagara region include an estimated $27 million worth of marijuana on June 25 and another $10 million worth on Aug. 10, both at the Peace Bridge.

The U.S.-Canada border remains closed to non-essential travel and has been since March 21.
