Niagara Parks Police say a 10-year-old boy was injured Sunday after failing from a railing on the Niagara Gorge.
Parks Police, Niagara Falls Fire, Niagara Emergency Medical Service and Niagara Regional Police converged on the gorge wall at Murray Street in Niagara Falls, ON about 4:30 p.m. when the report came in.
They learned the 10-year-old was visiting from out of the country with his family. He sat on the railing for his mother to take his picture, but then lost his balance and fell backwards about 80 feet to the gorge floor below.
First responders located the young man and stabilized his injuries for transport. His injuries were considered to be life threatening at the scene.
He was flown by Air Orange to McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton, where he was reported to be in serious but stable condition.
