The roar of race car engines is still a couple years away. However, Fort Erie's mayor says some major announcements are expected very soon on the $300 million Canadian Motor Speedway project being developed.
Mayor Wayne Redekop said developers have filed approvals with the town regarding early site work that was required before the 65,000-seat NASCAR-like race track designed by champion former racer Jeff Gordon could move forward - including noise and environmental studies. Groundbreaking is expected later this year, he said.
