The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is joining with other groups and individuals in holding a benefit for those affected by the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.
"Slava Ukraini: A Benefit Concert for Ukraine" will take place April 3 at 7 p.m. at Kleinhans Music Hall.
The orchestra, conducted by JoAnn Falletta, will perform "Melody" by Myroslav Skoryk, which has become the unofficial theme of the conflict. The BPO will also perform selections from Beethoven, Chopin and Sibelius.
The Buffalo GirlChoir will perform before the concert in the Mary Seaton Room and will sing the Ukrainian national anthem with the orchestra.
Tickets are general admission and select-your-own-price, although $40 per person is suggested. Tickets are available through the BPO's web site, by phone at (716) 885-5000 or at the Kleinhans box office. Proceeds will go to the global Red Cross movement to provide humanitarian aid for displaced Ukrainians.
