There is good news and bad news for arts and culturals today regarding pandemic reopenings.
Add the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens to the list of attractions set to reopen under the state's Phase Four reopening guidelines. The Botanical Gardens will admit members only starting July 8 and open to the general public a week later, on July 15.
It will be a phased process. Phase One, with many restrictions, will run for four weeks and begin with the pre-purchasing of e-tickets. Some of those restrictions will be lifted for Phase Two.
What is being called "New Normal" operations will be enacted for Phase Three. Visitors over age 2 will be required to wear face masks when inside Botanical Gardens buildings and hand washing will be required, with hand sanitizing stations throughout the facilities.
Unfortunately, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery has announced that this year’s Buffalo News Summer Jazz Series has been canceled due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.
The summer weekly concerts were entering their 39th year. With renovations under way at the gallery, this year’s concerts were scheduled to take place on the Richardson Olmsted Campus.
The Series is scheduled to return in July and August of next year.
