This is a tough time for organizations raising money for projects like the $10 million Hispanic Heritage Cultural Institute.
Plans for the facility at Niagara and Hudson streets were announced last year. It's one of a number of planned cultural centers, like the also in-the-works Italian Cultural Center in the old North Park Library at Hertel and Delaware avenues.
Hispanic Heritage Council President Casimiro Rodriguez says the plan will be adjusted to reflect what's going on in the country.
"As an organization, we're going to be looking at adjusting our timeline and repositioning some of our strategies and some of our efforts to make sure that we take care of the current need, which is to be safe, stay home, and get through this crisis," Rodriguez said.
"It's an important project for our community, but we don't need anything else other than talking about everyone's safety and what do we need to do to make sure that we get through this all together."
The three-story, energy-efficient building will house a museum, theater and media center to help host educational programs, events and cultural activities.
