The Buffalo Zoo has sent one of its lions to the Denver Zoo, as part of breeding recommendations.
Tobias, a two-year-old male African lion, will join three female lions in Denver, with hopes for him to mate with three-year-old Kamara or six-year-old Neliah.
The two zoos participate in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan. African lions are considered vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
Born in the spring of 2016, Tobias was the first lion born in the Buffalo Zoo in 25 years. His parents, Lelie and Tiberius, and six other lions will remain in Buffalo.
