Explore & More pushing toward fundraising goal

Explore & More, the new children's museum coming to Canalside, hasn't yet reached its fundraising goal of $29 million. With a full opening just six months away, museum officials say they have plans to help close that gap.

With a matching promise from the Ralph Wilson Foundation for much of the $5 million still needed, fundraising is continuing.  The museum is crowdfunding for its exhibit "Lighting Buffalo's Imagination" which looks at great inventions which came out of this region.

"It is an innovation wall. We're starting off with 40 inventors from our area who brought patents or creations to Western New York," said Explore & More CEO Michelle Urbanczyk, who described herself as a movie buff.

"We had the first movie theater, in Buffalo, at the Ellicott Square Building. I think for me because I didn't know that and I actually worked out of that building and didn't understand that rich history of what it brought to us.

There will be a soft opening at the end of the year, as the first exhibits arrive.
