What do a shark, a UFO and a music teacher have in common? Answer: Richard Dreyfuss. The Academy Award-winning actor from Jaws, Goodbye Girl, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, American Graffiti and Mr. Holland’s Opus will be among the celebrities appearing Friday-Sunday at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center for Nickel City Con.
Dreyfuss will be part of a Q&A panel Saturday at 6 p.m. The North Park Theatre in Buffalo will be hosting a special one-time screening of Jaws, plus a Q&A session with Dreyfuss on Sunday at 6 p.m.
In addition to Dreyfuss, Buffalo's premier pop culture and entertainment convention is featuring a long lineup of big-name celebrities, including Corbin Benson ("LA Law") Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett, Star Wars), Barbara Eden ("I Dream of Jeannie"), Lou Ferrigno ("The Incredible Hulk"), Jason David Frank (Power Rangers), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, Lori Petty (Tank Girl, A League of Their Own), Shannon Purser ("Stranger Things") and The Young Bucks tag team professional wrestlers.
New this year at Nickel City Con is Horror Fest, featuring horror vendors, ghastly guests, spooky authors, scary good artists and paranormal props. But, of course, the usual Cosplay contests, escape rooms, gaming and kids activity room are part of this year's convention as well.
