Buffalo native co-directed 'Restless Creature: Wendy Whelan'

A documentary highlighting world-renowned ballerina Wendy Whelan is playing at the North Park Theatre in Buffalo. One of the co-directors/producers of the film is Buffalo native Linda Saffire. WBFO Senior Reporter Eileen Buckley says the film portrays the difficulty of an aging and injured ballet dancer.

Wendy Whelanjoined the New York City Ballet at the age of 17. But into her late 40's the dancer experienced a serious tear in her hip. It was a devastating time as she realized it would be difficult to remain as a top ballet performer.

Saffire and her co-director/producer Adam Schlesinger set out to created "Restless Creature: Wendy Whelan”.

Saffire, who grew up in Clarence, has worked on a number of award-winning productions for film and television including "A Conversation with Gregory Peck" and "My Generation" a feature film about Woodstock.

You can see Restless Creature now through June 22 at 5 p.m. at the North Park Theatre in Buffalo.
