The organization which manages the Lake Erie estate designed by Frank Lloyd Wright has its new leader. The Graycliff Conservancy introduced Robert Wooler as its new executive director.
Wooler brings four decades of experience in not-for-profit management and marketing to the Graycliff Conservancy, which is moving forward with plans to restore the former summer home of Darwin and Isabelle Martin.
"Plans are afoot for later this year, as the visitation season winds down and the construction window opens up, to mobilize the forces necessary to begin and go as far as we can with the interior restoration," Wooler said.
Graycliff Conservancy staff are interested in getting as much done as possible in advance of next year's 150th anniversary of Wright's birth.
"There'll be extra attention given throughout the region to Wright in Buffalo, to his great designs, to his legacy, to his genius," Wooler said. "We need to be part of that."
Graycliff personnel also announced the arrival of a copy of a Louise Allen statue known as Pippa Passes to the estate. Darwin Martin gave the original to his wife as a Christmas present. The copy, which is part of an official limited set, was acquired by auction.
Also arriving on the campus is a 1927 Pierce Arrow four-door sedan on loan from the Buffalo Transportation Pierce Arrow Museum.
