For the holidays, Manhattan sparkles and Broadway adds extra shows. In Buffalo, theaters go dark for two to three weeks. But, starting tonight, live theater is back with the openings of END OF THE RAINBOW at the Kavinoky and OF MICE AND MEN at the Lancaster Opera House.
END OF THE RAINBOW, a musical drama by Peter Quilter, directed by Lisa Ludwig, stars Natasha Drena as Judy Garland, with a supporting case of Greg Gjurich, Chris Hatch, and David Lundy, from January 8 through 31, Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30, Saturdays at 3:30 and 7:30, and Sundays at 2:00. The Kavinoky is located at 320 Porter Avenue on the D'Youville College Campus.
OF MICE AND MEN, the famous play by John Steinbeck about George and Lennie and the rabbits is presented by Rocking Horse Productions, directed by Jane Navarro, and stars Andrew Kottler and Victor Morales at the Lancaster Opera House, 21 Central Avenue in Lancaster, running through January 17, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30, Sundays at 2:30.
Next week's openings include ALL MY SONS at The Irish Classical Theatre (January 15 through February 7) and KEELY AND DU presented by Subversive Theatre at The Manny Fried Playhouse (January 14 through February 6).
