Local bishop reflects on recent Cuba trip

A Western New York bishop recently got an up-close perspective on the changing relationship between the U.S. and Cuba. Eleven Episcopal bishops from the across the nation spent six days in Cuba earlier this month. The delegation included Western New York's Bishop R. William Franklin. In addition to spending three days in Havana, the bishops visited more than half of the island.

WBFO's Brian Meyer sat down with Franklin to talk about the trip.

"It was a wonderful experience to be there opening the doors between our two churches, the U.S. Episcopal Church and the Cuban Episcopal Church, at the moment that President Obama and Raul Castro were opening doors between our countries," Franklin said.

"We got to know them. They got to know us," said Franklin. "There was a great sense of respect, and even love, on both parts."
