Tim Russert office exhibit moving to Buffalo History Museum

Eileen Buckley/WBFO News

An exhibit that honors the memory of former NBC newsman and South Buffalo native Tim Russert has found a new home at The Buffalo History Museum.

The exhibit titled "Inside Tim Russert's Office" has been on display at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. as a temporary exhibit. But Tuesday, Rep. Brian Higgins and the Museum announced the Russert family has agreed bring the exhibit to Buffalo on a semi-permanent basis.

History Museum executive director Melissa Brown says the museum will take possession of the exhibit in June. She says the exhibit will take about two months to install and she says she hopes to open it by the fall.

Brown says the exhibit features Russert's office items, some of which have connections to Buffalo.

"There's a paper Tim that was made by school children from here in Buffalo that was mailed to him and it hung in his office. He kept it there. He liked it so much that it hung on the wall," Brown said Wednesday.

Russert was moderator of NBC's Meet the Press. He died in 2008 from a heart attack.
