This week on Theater Talk, we talk about a fully professional production of Hitchcock's THE 39 STEPS at Lockport's Taylor Theater in the Kenan Center, played for laughs, as was THE THANKSGIVING PLAY by Larissa Fasthorse at Ujima about some terminally "woke" teachers trying to put on an authentic experience. In & JULIET at Shea's Teal Wicks (Chere, Elphaba, etc.) steals the show as Shakespeare's wife, Anne Hathaway, in a very satisfying jukebox musical. In New York Anthony attended the installation of stars at the American Theater Hall of Fame which included William Finn (SPELLING BEE playwright), Charles Busch, and, among others, our own Stephen McKinley Henderson. While in NYC Anthony saw SUNSET BLVD which, on the night he was there, had three understudies in key roles and he reports that they don't miss a beat. That bodes well for whatever happens during the New York City Theater Adventure in January 2025.
