Employees at Buffalo City Hall are back in their building, after being evacuated this afternoon.
A fire in a freight elevator on the 20th floor caused the alarm.
Fire officials were called when white smoke was seen coming from the elevator.
First responders quickly got things under control and normal operations in the building resumed about an hour after the fire was first reported.
