The Community Health Worker Network of Buffalo is working with Erie County and Buffalo Public Schools to host a free vaccine clinic today at International Prep High School, at 110 14th Street in Buffalo.
The clinic is set from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. today and is open to children, youth and adults. Appointments for 5 to 11 year olds are in high demand and have all been reserved, but anyone 12 and older can walk in for a first or second dose or a booster depending on eligibility.
The clinic will be coupled with a "Wellness Our Way" event that will feature several activities provided by school and community partners including food, a DJ and dance, sports, mental health peer counselors and play-based learning. Community Health Workers are also available to speak with students and parents about making informed decisions about getting vaccinated.
Erie County is funding Community Health Workers in a community and culturally responsive approach to support vaccine uptake in populations and neighborhoods with low vaccination rates, and ensure access and equity to historically excluded individuals and families.
Other clinics have been held in recent weeks, with 166 vaccinations given most recently at Bennett High School earlier this week.
