Baseball fans who have been excited to see major league action in Buffalo could see the Blue Jays soon return home to Toronto.
The Toronto Blue Jays have made a request to the Canadian government to finish their season at the Rogers Centre, their usual home.
The Blue Jays have been playing in Buffalo at Sahlen Field since the beginning of June. The team has drawn around an average of 8,500-9,000 fans to games this year as the team hasn’t been allowed to cross the border due to COVID concerns.
A team spokesperson said the earliest the Blue Jays could possibly return at this point would be July 30, the beginning of a 10-game homestand. This comes in addition to the Blue Jays saying they’ve already gotten approval from the City of Toronto and the province of Ontario.
If the return back to Toronto must be delayed into August, the next possible homestand to return would be Aug. 20, a seven-game homestand.
Restrictions are currently being eased for Candians who are fully vaccinated.
