The Johnnie B. Wiley Amateur Athletic Sports Pavilion will kick off an event called Kuleta Pamoja today. Kuleta Pamoja is a Swahili phrase that means to come together, and the variety of offerings at the event are intended to appeal to the entire local community.

Cedric Holloway is the director of the facility on Jefferson Avenue between Dodge and Best Streets. He describes a bit of what attendees can expect.

"What we're offering is a venue for minority businesses. We also have a farmer's market being presented by Allison DeHonney and BuffaloGoGreen in addition to the African Food Co-op, and they're going to be selling fruits and vegetables and such from our local farmers, our inner city farmers as well."

Local vendors and entertainment will be available, and a free soccer league will be formed comprised of students aged 10 to 16 years of age. Kuleta Pamoja kicks off today, running until 3 PM and will continue each Saturday through September.

Ryan Zunner joined WBFO in the summer of 2018 as an intern, before working his way up to reporter the following summer.
