Some college students interested in a space-related career may still be making their way home across the country after being in Buffalo over the past several days.
As WBFO's Chris Caya reports, students from The University at Buffalo hosted SpaceVision 2012, which included speakers with local ties who now hold prominent positions in the industry.
UB's chapter of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space competed with other SEDS chapters nationwide to host the four-day conference, which wrapped up Sunday at the Buffalo-Niagara Convention Center. About 250 people turned out.
Speakers included Chris Scolese, current director of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Institute, William Pomerantz, the Vice President of special projects at Virgin Gallactic, and Peggy Whitson, the 13th Chief of NASA's Astronaut Office. She was the first woman commander of the International Space Station and has the second most hours in space of any U.S. Astronaut.
