Senator Mark Grisanti is receiving the backing of the New York State Independence Party.

This comes just days after the Conservative party announced their endorsement of Democrat Charles Swanick for the Senate seat Grisanti currently holds.

State Chairman of the Independence Party Frank McKay was in Buffalo Tuesday to announce the endorsement. McKay said even though it's unclear which district Grisanti will run for during the 2012 senate race the party will be standing behind him.

"He has non-voted party-line, he has voted with his conscious, he has voted with his heart, and he is a very rare individual. If you can get an individual like this to run for office you take it,"said McKay.

Reporters also asked Grisanti about the Seneca Niagara Casino scuffle that happed a few weeks ago and if he feels it will effect his campaign. Grisanti and his wife Maria are not allowed back into the Casino.

"Myself and my wife had no plans of going back to the casino, so I don't consider it a hurdle and as I said I was there to protect my wife and I'm sure there isn't a person in this room who wouldn't do the same thing for their spouse,"said Grisanti.

Reporters also asked Grisanti if he thought the scuffle had anything to do with the Conservative party's decision to endorse Charles Swanick.

"If they're going to be on one issue without the other host of issues that have come not only from Western New York, but other issues that have conservative values and are conservative issues that I helped champion not only in 2011, but continue to champion that's their prerogative. I wasn't shocked by it. you know you can just read between the lines a little bit, you have Chuck Swanick stated that Ralph Lorigo approached him and you have Ralph Lorigo saying that it was a committee decision. So some sort of political deal was done, I wasn't the fly that was on the wall, but that's my feeling on it," said Grisanti.

Grisanti said he's moving forward from the incident.
