Groundhog Day! The man who cares for Dunkirk Dave

The calendar says February 2nd and that marks the annual weather predictor day known as Groundhog Day.

Next to Puxatwanney Phil -- Dunkirk Dave is the second longest weather predictor in the world -- and he is right here in Western New York.

WBFO News contributor Brian Meyer traveled to Dunkirk to meet Dave and his handler for this special Groundhog day report.

And a footnote to Brian's story, Bob Will and Dunkirk Dave were featured January 30, 2012 in a front page article about Will's work with groundhogs in the Los Angels Times.

Dunkirk Dave emerged around 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning, and unlike Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil, Dave  did not see his shadow, predicting an early spring.

Punxsutawney Phil did see his shadow Thursday morning predicting there will be  six more weeks of winter.
